This Privacy Policy explains how Albirr Quran ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our learning portal (the "Service"). We are committed to handling your information responsibly and in accordance with Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Information We Collect

When you sign up and use the Service, we collect:

• Account information: full name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), and phone number (optional).
• Enrollment details: age, self-reported recitation level, weekly schedule preference, and any notes you provide.
• Payment confirmation notes: a reference note when an e-transfer payment is confirmed. We do not collect or store card numbers or banking credentials.
• Learning records: homework, memorization/learning history, class schedule, and attendance, created by your instructor as part of the program.
• Files you or your instructor upload as homework, learning, or email attachments (e.g. PDF or Word documents).
• Basic technical information such as session cookies used to keep you signed in.

2. Information About Minors

Many of our students are children. Where a student is a minor, we rely on a parent or legal guardian to create the account, provide accurate information, and consent to this Privacy Policy on the student's behalf. We collect only the information described above and use it solely to operate the Service described in these terms — we do not knowingly use children's information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account and determine enrollment status.
• To schedule trial classes and ongoing classes, and to send you Google Meet links.
• To track homework, memorization progress, and attendance.
• To send transactional emails: signup confirmation, trial and schedule details, payment reminders, password resets, and class reminders.
• To confirm e-transfer payments and manage enrollment.
• To communicate with you about the program.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the Service, with the following categories of service providers:

• Hosting and database providers (Vercel and Neon) that store and run the application and its data.
• File storage (Vercel Blob) that stores uploaded homework/learning/email attachments.
• Google, for Google Meet video classes and Google Calendar scheduling.
• Our email delivery provider, to send you transactional emails described above.

These providers process information only on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on encrypted, access-controlled infrastructure. Passwords are hashed using industry- standard one-way hashing (bcrypt) and are never stored or transmitted in plain text. Access to the admin panel is restricted and not publicly discoverable.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and learning record information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you wish to re-enroll. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see below).

7. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and similar privacy laws, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you or your child.
• Request correction of inaccurate information (you can update your name and password directly in Settings).
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Withdraw consent for us to hold your information, subject to any legal or program-related obligations.

8. Cookies

We use a small number of essential session cookies to keep you securely signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date on this page.
